"Fever" by Peggy Lee.
Ok, girls and boys, back to the 50s: Eighteen-year-old 5'4" pioneering R&B singer Little Willie John first recorded this jazz-pop standard in 1956. A tale of passionate love, it was composed by Eddie Cooley and Otis "John Davenport" Blackwell. It topped the R&B charts, sold over a million copies and peaked at #24 on Billboard's Hot 100. The definitive version was recorded and released in 1958 by a Jamestown, ND native. Smooth and sultry, it achieved global success and became the singer's signature hit. Minimalistically recorded with only bass, drums and finger snaps. She arranged it and added her own lyrics. It peaked at #8 on Billboard. Covered by Elvis, Madonna and Michael Bublé, among many others. Has been featured on "The Queen's Gambit" (highly recommend it!), "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "The Simpsons". Song? Singer?
