"I Am a Rock" by Simon and Garfunkel.
OK, boys and girls, back to the 60s: Paul Simon wrote and recorded this folk classic, while sick in London, in early 1965 as part of "The Paul Simon Songbook". Following the success of the electric version of "Sound Of Silence", he re-recorded it with Art Garfunkel as folk-rock on 12/14/65 for their second studio album. It peaked at #3. A man who has been deeply hurt becomes a recluse, locking himself from everything and everyone. Song?
Answer: Paul Simon's "I Am a Rock". One of Simon's best! Young Jesuit scholastics in the 60s loved to make us analyze it during English class.
