"(Who Wrote) The Book of Love?" by The Monotones.

OK, boys and girls, more 50s one-hit wonders: The only hit for this Newark, NJ doo-wop sextet came in 1957 with a catchy tune penned by three of its members and inspired by a Pepsodent commercial. It peaked at #5 Pop and at #3 R&B. Referenced in Don McLean's "American Pie" and Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll". Part of the "American Graffiti" soundtrack and performed by Sha Na Na at Woodstock. Group? Song? Answer: "(Who Wrote) The Book Of Love?" by The Monotones. The "boom" sound was accidentally recorded when a basketball hit the studio wall - they decided to keep it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS1LFGGGazc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sRbUVfNgqs
